Each section shows its freeboard — how many sandbags of clearance it still has over the surface. The wall does not fail as a whole; it fails at whichever single section runs out of clearance first, so the entire game is an argument about where the next bag belongs rather than how fast you can tap.
Tap a section to drop a sandbag on it. A bag placed on the section with the lowest freeboard counts as a clean call and raises your multiplier; a bag spent anywhere else resets the streak, because a tall stack in the middle does nothing for a flank that is about to go under. Bags come off a short reload, so machine-gun tapping wins you nothing — spacing and target choice do. The run ends the moment any section's freeboard reaches zero.
Keep the whole wall flat rather than building a fortress over the middle: the flood only needs one weak section. Watch the outer two sections especially — they are easy to forget and they drown first. Past 25 points the storm surge arrives and starts clawing a bag off your tallest stack after a flashing warning, which turns over-building into an outright liability and forces you to keep the profile even.
