Weld — Free Online Torch Heat Timing Game

Weld is a one-finger game about a resource almost no other timing game uses: your own trigger finger. A steel beam rolls past on a roller table, and every so often an unsealed gap arrives at the fixed torch head. Tapping fires the torch — but every single pull of the trigger, hit or miss, pushes the heat gauge on the left a notch higher, and heat only bleeds off while you leave the torch alone. A bead only takes when the gauge is inside the green working band: too cold and the arc will not bite, too hot and the metal spatters instead of bonding. So the game is a constant negotiation between two failures, one of which you cause by playing too eagerly.

How to play

Tap anywhere to start the line. After that, tap when an orange gap is between the two dashed markers around the torch. A successful bead turns the seam green and scores; a gap that rolls out the left side unsealed cracks and costs one of your four plates, shown top-left. Lose all four and the shift ends — and if the heat gauge ever tops out, the torch burns out instantly, no matter how many plates you had left. Space bar works on desktop.

Tips

Idle taps are not free: they are the fastest way to burn out, so resist the urge to test-fire between joints. If the gauge has drifted below the band while you waited, one early tap into empty beam is a legitimate way to preheat — it costs you nothing but heat you actually wanted. Near the top of the band, do the opposite and let a joint or two crack rather than pushing the needle over. Three clean beads back to back opens a streak bonus that keeps growing, so steady rhythm beats speed, and the line gets faster the longer your shift runs.
