Short words — CAT, BOLT, NOVA — drop down three columns toward a glowing platen line, and each tap on a column types the next letter of the word falling there. The letter you owe is lit in gold on the word itself and mirrored on one of three keycaps along the bottom — but the keycaps shuffle every time you finish a word, so the square holding your letter is rarely the one under it. Finish every letter and the word bursts for a bonus worth its length plus three; let a word touch the line and you lose one of three hearts. Three landed words and the machine jams — game over. Tap the keycap showing your letter to type it — the square's position, not the falling word's column, is what you aim at (on desktop the 1, 2, 3 keys or arrow keys hit the same three squares). A three-letter word needs three taps, a four-letter word four — you can hammer the same square as fast as you like, and tapping one showing a dot costs nothing. Every completed word reshuffles the keycaps — the borders flash gold when they swap. Points trickle in over time while you play, every typed letter adds one, and finished words pay a bonus. Words fall faster and arrive closer together the longer you last, and eventually two or three columns fill at once.
Burst-tap: the moment a word spawns alone, rattle off all its letters immediately — the keycaps hold still until you finish a word, so a word started is a word worth finishing right now. When two words fall together, finish the lower one first even if the higher one is shorter; height is the only clock that matters. Four-letter words are worth more but take an extra beat, so late in a run treat any fresh four-letter word as your top priority before the screen gets crowded.
