One might double you, one might add forty, one might quietly halve you. You get about a second to decide which side to be standing on when the pair arrives, and whatever operator you hit is applied on the spot — the figure floating over your runner is both your current value and your score, so a bad door does not cost you points later, it costs you them immediately. Reach zero and the run ends there.
Tap the left half of the screen to take the left gate and the right half to take the right one, or use the arrow keys on desktop. You can change your mind as often as you like until the pair reaches you. Picking the better of the two gates builds a combo multiplier that speeds up the trickle of points you earn just by running; taking the weaker one resets it. Early on both gates always grow you and the only question is which grows you more — a ×2 is worth more than a +40 only while your number is above forty. Past 20 points the shrinking operators arrive and a mistake starts costing real ground.
Do the comparison against the number you are carrying, not the one you started with — ×2 is the best door in the game at 200 and a trap at 6. Pink panels always shrink you, blue pairs mean both doors are safe and you are playing for the margin, and green marks the good half of a mixed pair. Commit early: sliding lanes at the last moment costs you the read on the next pair.
