Gatecrash — Spin the Ring Gate in a 3D Tunnel

A cyan ring floats just in front of you at the mouth of an endless tunnel, and one quarter of it is missing. Blocks come howling out of the dark, each one locked to one of the four quarters. Your only job is to have the hole in the right place when the block arrives. Every tap rotates the gate a quarter turn clockwise, so the question is never "can I react in time" but "how many quarter turns from here, and do I have room to make them before it lands".

How to play

Tap anywhere (or press Space) to spin the gate. A block that flies through the opening scores and lifts your combo multiplier; a block that smashes into the ring costs you one of your three repair pips and resets the combo to zero. Lose all three and the gate comes down. Score also ticks up for every second you keep the ring intact, so surviving pays even when nothing is inbound.

The second act

Past 28 points the drift blocks arrive: gold instead of pink, and they jump a quarter turn of their own while still mid-flight. Line up early against one of those and you have lined up wrong. The fix is to read the gold ones late and the pink ones early, which means holding two different rhythms in the same run.

Tips

Count turns rather than aiming — the gate only has four states, so the answer is always zero, one, two or three taps. Two taps is the slow one; if a block is close and sits opposite your opening, you are usually better off eating the hit and keeping your rhythm than panic-tapping past it. Chase the combo: at five clean passes the multiplier starts climbing and a steady mid-length run outscores a lucky long one. On Chill the tunnel ramps over two full minutes, which is the mode to learn the quarter-turn counting in.
