Railyard Rascals — Free 3D Train Yard Runner

Railyard Rascals is a free endless runner in full 3D. You are a rascal loose in a busy railyard, sprinting down three tracks while parked carriages, barriers and, later on, oncoming trains get in the way. There is no download and no sign-up: it runs right in your browser on phones, tablets and computers.

How to play

On a phone, swipe left or right to switch tracks, swipe up to jump and swipe down to roll. On a computer, use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D. Yellow and black barriers are knee high, so jump them. Red bars have a glowing gap underneath, so roll through it. A grey carriage blocks the whole track, so change lanes or take the ramp in front of it and run along the roof, where coins are worth double. After about 600 metres on Normal, trains start coming the other way. Blinking lights on the rails warn you a second and a half before one arrives.

Sweepo and second chances

Clip a barrier or bump the side of a carriage and you stumble. Sweepo, a grumpy yard-sweeper robot, rolls up right behind you, and he stays close for a few seconds. Another hit while he is there and you get swept up. Running head-first into the front of a carriage or a train ends the run straight away.

Power-ups and combos

Spring shoes let you bounce straight up onto carriage roofs without a ramp. A shield board soaks up one crash of any kind. Every obstacle you clear on purpose builds your combo, and every five clears raise the score multiplier, up to five times. A last-second dodge counts as a Close! and is worth double. A stumble resets the multiplier, and standing still earns nothing.

The rascals

Pick Capy, an unbothered capybara in sunglasses with an orange on its head; Gym Pigeon, who never skips leg day; or Top Banana in chunky high-tops. Prefer a different look? Switch to model style for Timber the beaver, Squawk the parrot and Mango the monkey.

Difficulty

Chill, Normal and Hard change the starting speed, how fast the pace builds, how much warning you get before each obstacle and how long Sweepo hangs around. Medals are awarded at 1,500, 4,000 and 9,000 points.
